Event Background
Accounted for more than 40% of the proven reserve, deepwater is becoming the new frontier for global offshore E&P activities. Meanwhile, as the oil price reached the new record high in the decade, it is further boasting the investment in deepwater E&P projects. Moreover, the characteristics of high investment, high risk and high return of deepwater projects urge the oil & gas majors to seek a more diversified portfolio and integrate their global practices. Although the “golden triangle”, namely GoM, Brazil and West Africa have claimed their significance in the oil & gas majors’ global portfolio, challenges still lay ahead in the area with promising deepwater potential. It is high time that Southeast Asia came into play.
Indonesia, Malaysia, China and other regions surrounding the South China Sea is gradually recognized by the oil & gas majors as the future of deepwater E&P activities. Yet, regional conditions of instable political environment, laggard technical innovation, harsh geological and geophysical features and undersupplied professional labors pose great challenge to oil & gas majors. Thus, joint-effort shall be made among various project participants to build a healthy and cooperative relationship between one and another.
Deepwater Southeast Asia Congress2008 (DSAC 2008) claims itself as the 1st and only deepwater event held in China with unique focus on deepwater E&P in areas surrounding the South China Sea, namely China, Vietnam, Philippine, Indonesia and Malaysia. During the 2 days event, DSAC 2008 will address the hottest issues in the region’s deepwater areas concerning policies trends, project updates, technical innovations and etc. DSAC 2008 will match up various project participants including governments, IOCs, NOCs and services companies to promote the area’s deepwater developments and assist each entity to find the right partner.
